In rebranding as Skry, the company that demoed at FinDEVr 2015 as Coinalytics is announcing a key transition from being an application to becoming a platform.
“The reasoning behind the rebranding is to highlight our vision to converge the Blockchain, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence into the most advanced analytics platform for enterprises and financial institutions,” Skry co-founder and CEO Fabio Federici said. “While our first solution is focused on compliance and anti-money laundering for the Bitcoin Blockchain, we are really developing a platform that can be deployed agnostically of the underlying Blockchain and can adapt to any domain,” he said.

Joining Skry in its new direction is Dr. Akash Singh (right), former CTO Data Science at Huawei and Chief Researcher/Architect at IBM, who will serve as the company’s new CTO. Skry has also added Dr. Masoud Nikravesh, former Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Director at CITRIS, UC Berkeley and Visiting Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Nikravesh will be Skry’s new Chief Data Scientist.
Referring to his appointment as a “once in a generation opportunity,” Singh praised the blockchain’s potential to transform transactions, describing a world of new smart contract enabled applications all “easily accessible to the enterprise.” Nikravesh (left) added that the ability of machine learning and AI to draw “actionable insights” from the Blockchain was critical as the technology evolved “beyond Bitcoin.” He credited Skry for being a leader in this effort. “I am delighted to be part of this venture and explore new frontiers in science, technology and innovation,” Nikravesh said.
Skry (formerly Coinalytics) was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
